Top Fives: Intro

The purpose of these top five lists is to generate discussion.  It’s pretty much impossible to narrow anything down to a top five.  So these are my top five but I really want to here from you.  What are yours?

hey Brian, this is cool – I like the idea of monthly picks. If I’m curious about an album, if I see it hear, then there’s a good chance it’s worth getting! i’ll have to do some shopping on here soon!

Thanks Jim! Hope to see you over at D’s sometime this summer. Hope you’re well!

I’m totally on board with B.O.B and Juicy. Juicy is probably the best hip hop song of all time.

I’m not so much agreeing with the first three choices. Some possible alternatives:
    “Hit ’em up”
    “Rapper’s Delight”
    “Regulate” (I’m not kidding)
    “Slippin'” by DMX
    “Rosa Parks”
    “Lose Yourself”
    “99 problems”
    “Express Yourself”
    “Electric Relaxation”
    “Ms. Jackson”
    “M.E.T.H.O.D Man”
    “Bust a Move”
    “O.P.P.” or “Feel me Flow”
    “Hey Lover”
“To Live and Die in L.A.”
“Damn it Feels Good to be a Gangsta”
“Love of my Life” (Roots featuring Common)

I could list more. But I’ll stop for now. Just some ideas.

“Juicy” is ridiculous- it makes me laugh, crazy, dance and jam at the same time. Truth be told “Electric Relaxation” probably makes my top ten. “Rapper’s Delight” not far behind but to me “the Message” is THE best pre-Run-DMC rap song. How can you deny its greatness? Absolutely love most of the rest of your picks- all five star tracks- Rosa Parks! especially. I will not hate on “Regulate” either. Great track. I’m not familiar with the DMX track- I slept on him and am really only a fan of “Party (Up in Here)”. “Hey Lover” the Cool J track? Don’t really remember “Feel Me Flow” either. For the Tupac tracks I prefer “Keep Ya Head Up”, “California Love'” and “I Get Around” but I’m not a Tupac expert.

Damn it Feels Good to be a Gangsta= Awesome. I also have to throw in “Mind Playin’ Tricks”- another one of the best of all time

Ridiculously tough list to narrow down to 5 but that’s the fun of it
